Thank You!

Yesterday, voters in Harrison County went to the polls and made history. A higher proportion of votes were cast for Republicans in an election than ever before in county history.

It was also historic in many other ways, including the third consecutive election in Harrison County history in which the Republicans won every county race. The election marks the continuation of the service of a unified three-member Republican Board of Commissioners and of a seven-member Republican County Council. All county offices will continue to be held by Republicans.

Harrison County also voted overwhelmingly for President Donald Trump, Congressman Trey Hollingsworth, Governor Eric Holcomb, Attorney General-Elect Todd Rokita, and State Representatives Karen Engleman and Steve Davisson.

This was an unprecedented campaign season due to the pandemic, but it was also unprecedented in the unwavering support your Republican candidates received from the people of Harrison County from the start of the campaign to the end.

Voters stood in line for up to four hours to cast their votes early, a record number of people mailed their ballots in, and there were lines when the polls opened on Election Day. It is the highest turnout, both in actual voters and percentage, in Harrison County history.

This was the victory coming from the tireless efforts of many. It came after a lot of hard work and dedication by a lot of great people: citizens, volunteers, candidates, and their family members. Most importantly, it came from the votes of the people of Harrison County.

From the top of the ticket to the bottom, the voters of Harrison County were presented with two dramatically different political ideologies and visions of America. They decisively favored a conservative, Republican platform.

It would be easy to dismiss the election result as "tribalism", as if there is something somehow wrong with citizens voting for candidates that hold their same beliefs.

This would be a shallow election explanation ignorant of critical facts. Every single Republican candidate's margin of victory was well ahead of the advantage they received for straight ticket votes. Further, straight ticket votes did not count toward the result in the county council race, where the outcome was even more decisive. These results came from the candidates, not from the political party labels alone.

The election season in our area is now at an end. The work of continuing to bring good government to Harrison County and working for everyone in our county remains ahead.

As we said in the campaign, keeping America great starts right here in Harrison County, and we intend to do our part.

In the days, weeks, months, and years to come, your Republican elected officials will—as always—strive to serve Harrison County, Indiana, and America with honor, integrity, and conservative common sense.

We will continue to deliver good, conservative government. We also hope to continue to provide a government of which you can be proud.

Thank you for your support, your prayers, and your vote.

This was truly your victory.
